Alvenia F. Richmiller, 81, of Mendon, Illinois, passed away at 3:23 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She was born in Hannibal, Missouri, on October 27, 1942, a daughter of Russell M. and Alvenia Fay (Brown) Smashey. She married Ronald L. Richmiller on January 2, 1962, in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2021
Alvenia attended Hannibal High School. She was a homemaker, CNA, and a travel agent. She was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church and taught catechism there for several years. Alvenia was a former member of Faith Assembly of God, and took mission trips to El Salvador, Czech Republic, and Hungary. In 1995, Alvenia fulfilled her lifelong dream with a trip to the Holy Land, Israel.
Alvenia loved the farm life and taking care of the animals, raising chickens, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She collected angel and chicken statues. Her favorite pastimes were travelling and shopping.
She is survived by her children, John K. (Rica) Richmiller of Quincy, Illinois, Gaye Richmiller and Tonya Richmiller both of Mendon, Illinois; grandchildren, Zachary Conner, Cody Lear (Ashton Brown), Anna Rose Richmiller; Addilynn Conner and Ryleigh Conner; a brother, Ronnie Darr of Hannibal; sister-in-law, Mary Warning; faithful four-legged companion, Dolly. Nephews and cousins also survive.
Alvenia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-in-law Robert Richmiller, and niece Trina Logan.
A Funeral service will be on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. in the Triplett Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Mendon, Illinois. Fr. Scott Snider to officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Triplett Funeral in Mendon, Illinois with a rosary held at 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church.
