Anna Marie Gordley, 88, of Quincy, formerly of Mendon, passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at her home. She was born on February 16, 1933, in Novelty, Missouri, a daughter of Paul & Gertrude (Woodard) Dusenberry. She married Roger Gordley on January 3, 1954, in Newark, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, Roger, four children, Lois (Gene) Hendrickson of Lima, Illinois, Phil (Zora) Gordley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Paula (Don) Finan of Loveland, Colorado and Scott (Jennifer) Gordley of Ursa, Illinois, grandchildren, Melissa (Kerry) Ransom, Matthew (Monica) Hendrickson, Madison Gordley, Olivia Gordley, Sean Finan, Benjamin Finan, Dane Gordley and Camden Gordley, great grandchildren, Lydia, Levi and Lane Ransom, Maya and Indra Hendrickson, many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harold Dusenberry, Wade (Betty) Dusenberry, Kenneth (Marjorie) Dusenberry, Dale Dusenberry, sisters, Helen (George) Mayes Spencer and Juanita (Carl) Burkhardt, brothers-in-law, Ronald (Polly) Gordley and Herbert (Alta Mae) Gordley, sisters-in-law, Mary (Floyd) Siltman and Amy (Ted) Bieneman.
Anna Marie graduated from Monroe City High School in 1951. She worked as a nursing assistant at night to be able to be a homemaker during the day. Anna Marie and Roger enjoyed volunteering for the ambulance service in Mendon and the Red Cross for many years.
She was an active member of the Mendon Congregational Church and their Cogitator class. She was also a member of the Adams County Homemaker Extension. Anna Marie enjoyed reading, flower gardening, and playing Bridge. She treasured time spent with family and baking her famous Monster Cookies for them. She was an avid Illini Basketball and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the First Congregational Church of Mendon with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Mendon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Mendon. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church of Mendon, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the American Red Cross.
