Barbara Jean Phillips, 81, of Rushville, passed away at 10:35 PM, Friday, February 17, 2017, at Heritage Manor in Beardstown.
She was born on July 14, 1935, in Decatur, the daughter of Edward Ceril and Mabel Easter (Page) Keith. She married Maurice “Woody” Phillips in July of 1956.
Surviving are three children Nancee O’Hara and husband Steve and Cindy Shaw and husband Rick all of Rushville and Brian Phillips of Rushville, four grandchildren Nicole Roegge and husband Aaron, Ashley Earles and husband Drew, Tyler Shaw and wife Alexa and Kyle Phillips, six great grandchildren Alissa and Hunter Ballinger, Ena Earles, Harley and Hayden Shaw and Caroline Phillips and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A 1953 graduate of Beardstown High School, she first worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Springfield. She later worked an aide at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville and as a waitress at the Schuy-Vista in Rushville. For many years, she operated her own home and commercial cleaning service.
Barb was a member of the Women of the Moose in Rushville. She enjoyed playing bingo, camping, fishing and crafting. She was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Mickey Mouse.
Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Interment will follow in the Palm Cemetery, west of Rushville. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or the Heritage Manor Activity Fund.
