Barbara Wear

Barbara B. Wear, age 98, of Carthage, formerly of Loraine, passed away at 8:03 PM on Sunday December 13, 2020 at Hickory Grove in Carthage.

She was born on Thursday, March 30, 1922 in Frederick, South Dakota a daughter of  Hugh and Anna (Nelson) Eary.

Barbara married Seldon Lawrence Wear on July 8, 1938.  He preceded Barbara in death on December 15, 1979.

She is survived by her two sons, Garry (Janet) Wear of Loraine and Steven (Donna) Wear of Keokuk; grandchildren, Paula “Kyla” Oudshoorn, Kim Mecum, Regan Wear, Darin Wear, Steven “Kyle” Wear, Jr., Andrew Wear, great grandchildren, Sean Barry, Sarah Reiff, Suzanne Duesdicker, Ryan Wear, Dylan Wear, Dalton Wear and Brady Wear, great-great grandchildren, Taylor Barry, Landon Wear, Hunter Wear, and  Regan James Wear.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Marjorie Kay Mecum and a grandson, Kevin Wear, a great grandson Jeffery Barry.

She was a member of the Loraine Christian Church. She was active in the church providing her well known pies for church luncheons.  She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed caring for them and others. She worked at Motorola.  Later, she took pleasure in caring for the elderly.  Seldon and Barbara loved to square dance.  She appreciated games of all types, cards, crosswords, and puzzles.  Barbara loved to read.

Private Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in the New Loraine Cemetery Rev. Keela Neumann to officiate.  Interment will be in New Loraine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hickory Grove in Carthage, Illinois.  The family is being served by the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.  You are invited to share a memory of Barb and leave a condolence at www.hunterfh.com
