Bertha Kleemeyer

Bertha Louise “Bertie Lou” Kleemeyer, age 94, of Mendon, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.  She was born on November 29, 1928 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Bertram and Grace Andrew McClelland.  Bertie Lou married Elmer Kleemeyer, who preceded her in death. 

She is survived by one son:  James K. (Candace) Kleemeyer of Lima, Illinois; two daughters:  Sue Ellen Mohr of Quincy, Illinois and Mary Beth Kleemeyer of Mendon, Illinois; a sister, Linda Murphy of Princeton, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Charlotte McKenzie, and two sons: Dave Kleemeyer and Mark Kleemeyer. 

Bertie Lou spent her school years in California before returning to the area.   She was a homemaker and enjoyed needlework, especially sewing, knitting, cross stitching, and quilting.  She also loved gardening and canning.  She enjoyed bus trips and loved family get-togethers. 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Mendon Cemetery, Mendon, Illinois, with Rev. Larry Smith officiating.
