Betty Welty

GOLDEN, Ill. -- Betty A. Welty, 75, of Golden, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday (April 15, 2011) in Blessing Hospital.

Betty was born on March 16, 1936, in rural Golden to the late John F. and Erna (Franzen) Bruns. She married Don Smith on March 3, 1957. Don passed away in May of 1996. She later married Ray Welty on July 20, 1968, in Quincy. Ray died May 11, 2008.

Betty was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. She loved camping, painting, gardening, sewing, and canning.

Surviving are three children, Mike Smith and his wife, Carol, of Mendon, Scott Smith and his wife, Tammy, of Camp Point, Susan Welty-Davis and her companion, Larry Brown, of Golden; eight grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, and Jeremy Smith, Shelby and Logan Davis, Steve Turner and his wife, Sacha, Jaben Turner and his wife, Danielle, and Stacy Williams and her husband, Tony; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, June Bramlett of Quincy; one aunt, Maralee Franzen of Golden; and one uncle, Ray Franzen of Golden.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Rieman.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Hunter Funeral Home, Golden. Burial will be in Golden Memorial Gardens, Golden.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Adams County Humane Society.
