Beulah Ruth Bates, 74, of Marcelline, Illinois, passed away at 6:22 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on April 17, 1949, in Nebo, Illinois, a daughter of Adolfus Abraham and Alta C. (Sly) Wigington. She married Jack Bates on October 27, 1967, in Palmyra, Missouri. He survives.
Beulah attended Central High School. She worked at Motorola, Methode, Kayser Lure Shop, and as the manager of the Fast Stop in Ursa, Illinois. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and motorcycle rides. She was an outstanding cook and an avid bowler.
She is survived by her husband Jack; sons, Jack Bates, Jr. of Marcelline, Illinois, Michael E. Bates, Sr. of Graham, Illinois, Bill Bates of Marcelline, Illinois, Michael E. Bates, Jr. of Ursa, Illinois; grandchildren, Amber Askew, Jack Bates III, Dylan Bates, Philip Bates, Brianna Shepherd, Katelyn Bates, Emily Neally, Andrew Bates, Olivia Bates; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Larry Wigington; sisters, Carol Cannell and Trudy Wigington; Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Rodney Cannell.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.
