GOLDEN, Ill. -- Bonita Lou Albers, 71, of Golden, died at 5:35 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 18, 2012) in her home in Golden.

Bonita was born on May 16, 1941, in Iowa City, Iowa, to the late Cecil W. and Pearl Tipton Newton. She married Roger Albers on Nov. 16, 1997, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. Roger of Golden survives.

She received her associate's degree in business management from John Wood Community College in Quincy and worked for Brown Shoe in Pittsfield. After receiving her degree, Bonita worked as a payroll manager at Dot Foods in Mount Sterling, then for Quincy Compressor in Quincy.

Bonita was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. She enjoyed flower gardening, doing crafts, line dancing, swimming, traveling, maintaining her fish ponds and was a gifted seamstress.

In addition to her husband, Bonita is survived by five children, Connie Frese and her husband, Virgil of Quincy, Diana McCarthy and her husband, Kevin, of Virginia, Butch Sebers and his wife, Mary, of Marengo, Larry Kauffman of Austin, Texas, and Rob Kauffman of Augusta; 16 grandchildren, Marquita Caspermeyer and her husband, Michael, of Quincy, Mandy Powell and her friend, Mark Bartel, of Springfield, Megan Baucom and her husband, Jason, of St. Louis, Angie Norris and her husband, Keith of Quincy, Greg Frese and his wife, Kelly, of Edwardsville, Kim Mast and her husband, Daren, of Quincy, Melissa Martinez and her husband, Edwin, of Quincy, Bethany Mosley and her fiancA�AC., Patrick Kelly, of Dupo, Levi Blair and his fiancA�AC., Theresa Wheeler, of Virginia, Brittany Blair of Virginia, Brooke Blair and her fiancA�AC., Nathan White, of Virginia, Jessica Zanger and her husband, Todd, of Quincy, Nicole Martin and her husband,Travis, of DeKalb, Sackett Kauffman of Gypsum, Colo., JennesseeLee Kauffman of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Jubalee Kauffman of Gypsum, Colo.; 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Moreland and her husband, Wally, of Springfield, and Louise Holdman and her husband, Emmett, of St. Louis; one uncle, Leroy Tipton and his wife, Wilma, of Vichy, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, Larry Albers of Denver, Colo., and Greg Albers and his wife, Rhonda of Golden; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Reuschel and her husband, Alan, of Camp Point, Kristy Goudschaal and her husband, Rick, of Tucson, Ariz., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gary "Herbie" Kauffman; two brothers, Charles and Orel "Bud" Newton; two sisters, Irene Zimmerle and Lorene Paneitz.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden, with The Rev. Linda Murray officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Golden.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.

MEMORIALS: Ovarian Cancer National Alliance or Immanuel Lutheran Church.
