Carolyn was born on Dec. 26, 1927, in Brownfield, to the late Paul LaRue and Marian (Wymore) Trovillion. She married David Hancock on March 16, 1948, at the Brownfield Baptist Church. She later married James Alexander on July 29, 1968, in Quincy. James died March 12, 2007.
Carolyn was an active member of the Elm Grove United Methodist Church near Golden.
She worked as a speech therapist for the Quincy and Camp Point school districts.
Carolyn enjoyed singing, whistling, listening to music, reading, cooking and gardening. Her greatest joy was loving and serving the Lord and her family.
Surviving are two children, Mark (Susan) Hancock of Quincy, and Elaine (Randy) Cone of Morton; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Hancock; four stepchildren, Jerald (Diana) Alexander of Quincy, Paul Alexander of LaPrairie, Catherine (Richard) Collins of Dixon, and Mary Sue Wright of Springfield; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; one son, Alan Hancock; two brothers; one sister; a son-in-law; and a granddaughter, Melissa Underwood.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden, with the Rev. Hal Trovillion officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Horeb Cemetery in rural Golden.
VISITATION: 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden.
