Clyde Stoll

Clyde E. Stoll, 86, of Mendon, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024, surrounded by his devoted family at Adams Pointe Senior Living in Quincy, IL.

He was the devoted husband of Frances “Kaye” (Elston) Stoll, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Born on April 12, 1938, in Keokuk, IA, he was the son of Louie and Frieda (Rabe) Stoll. A 1956 graduate of Warsaw High School, Clyde was also a long-standing member of Mendon Congregational Church.

In 1960, Clyde enlisted in the United States Army Reserve. Soon after, he met Kaye, the love of his life. Together, they built a home in Mendon, IL, where they raised three sons. Clyde pursued careers as a carpenter and farmer before joining Moorman’s Research Farm in 1963. He worked there until his retirement in 1993, continuing to farm until 2010.

Clyde was a man of many interests. He enjoyed playing the guitar, the thrill of tractor pulls, hunting, and trapping. He also had a fondness for watching his favorite TV show, Gunsmoke. Together with Kaye, Clyde treasured car rides, traveling, and attending country music shows at Unity High School.

Clyde’s memory will be forever cherished by his beloved wife, Frances “Kaye” Stoll of Mendon, IL; his sons Rodney (Sandy) Stoll of Charleston, SC, and Alan R. (Chris Bowler) Stoll of Quincy, IL; his daughter-in-law, Theresa Stoll of Quincy, IL; and his grandchildren: Stephanie (Scott) Altgilbers, Steven (Jason Kelly) Stoll, Sara (Zach) Cook, Taylor (Chandler) Hammond, Regan (Rachel) Stoll, and Jenna (Stephen) Jones. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Warren Altgilbers, Raelee Cook, Addison Cook, Case Cook, Nolan Jones, and two great-grandchildren expected in March 2025; His sister, Maxine Deen. He is also survived by brother-in-law Chuck Lubbert, nephews Ronald Deen and Brian Deen, and nieces Carmen Fischer and Beth Lubbert.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved son Daryl Stoll, brother-in-law David Deen and sister-in-law Joyce Lubbert.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Clyde’s life on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, IL. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Larry Smith. Interment will take place at Mendon Cemetery.
