Craig L. Daugherty

Craig L. Daugherty, 50, of Mendon, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Illinois.  He was born on August 24, 1972, in Quincy, Illinois, a son of Ron and Mary (Vonburg) Daugherty. 

Craig was a Unity High graduate.  He went on to work for the Department of Corrections at Mt. Sterling and the Clayton Work Camp.  Craig enjoyed hunting, fishing, and drinking beer with buddies. Most of all Craig loved his son. He never missed a ballgame, school event, or the opportunity to tell Kade how proud he was of him. The two of them were constantly on the go. Whether it be on a boat, fishing, or in the deer stand scoping out their next shoot, practicing sports in the yard, shopping for new sports gear or fishing and hunting supplies, playing video games, and teaching Kade new life skills. In Craigs eyes his biggest accomplishment in life was becoming a dad and creating an unbreakable bond with his son.

Craig is survived by his son, Kade Daugherty of Mendon, father, Ronald W. Daugherty of Mendon, and a brother Ronald L. Daugherty of Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and mother.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon.  Pastor Ronald Graham to officiate.  The visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Camouflage is welcome.  Memorials may be made to Kade’s education fund.
