Craig "Homer" Homan

Craig "Homer" Homan, 59, of Mendon, Illinois, passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at his home. He was born on March 7,1965, a son of Charles and Sue Ann (McClelland) Homan. He married Bobette Hankins on June 9, 2009, in Quincy, IL. Together they raised their four children.

Craig was a 1983 graduate of Unity High School. After graduation, he began working for Peter Farms. Later, he served as the Mendon Township Commissioner for four years. He was currently working for the Village of Mendon. For many years, Craig was a volunteer fireman for the Mendon Fire Protection District.

Craig was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed hunting racoons and coyotes. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son; Grady Homan of Mendon, IL; daughters, Ronette Leonard of Mendon, IL, Torrie Mook of Palmyra, MO, and Tomeka Reinberg of Quincy, IL; grandchildren, Sage, Lucas, Kadien, Aaralyn, Treyden, Tre’nae, Cainen, and Nicholas; a brother, Danny Homan of Quincy, IL; sisters Lisa (Ronnie) Meyers of Payson, IL, Nikki VonBurg of Quincy, IL, Lachele Homan of Park Forest, IL, and Teresa Schultz of Barry, IL. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Inez and Orville Homan; parents; brother, Jason VonBurg; grandson, Nicholas and his special dog, Russell.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, IL. Pastor Ronald Graham to officiate. Inurnment will immediately follow at the Mendon Township Cemetery in Mendon.
