Don Joe Unger, 78, of Los Angeles, California, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Riverside Care Facility of North Hollywood, California.
He was born July 29, 1943, in Huntsville Township, Schuyler County, Illinois, the son of Elbrey and Clara (Roberts) Unger.
He was a graduate of Macomb High School in 1961 and earned a Masters Degree in History from Western Illinois University. He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. In 1976, he attended the Southern California College of Watchmaking and practiced watchmaking and repair for many years. He worked as a security guard for the Johnny Carson Tonight Show.
Surviving several cousins Norma Heitz, Orvall Unger and wife Shirley, Karen Bockwitz, and Orson Unger all of Rushville, Betty Widener and husband Eddie of Augusta, and Sandra Harris of Burlington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were held with military rites at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside California.
