CAMP POINT, Ill. -- Donald M. Sharow, 61, of Camp Point, died at 4:22 a.m. Sunday (June 20, 2010) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Don was born Jan. 4, 1949, in Quincy to the late Elmer Mason and Dorothy Bernadine Wilson Sharow. He married Petronella "Pat" Norkus on Nov. 6, 1971, at Our Lady of Vilna Catholic Church in Chicago. Pat survives of Camp Point. Don was a graduate of Central High School in Camp Point and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, receiving the Army Commendation Medal. Don was a good and honest man who loved his family and had a strong belief in God. He loved his livestock, nature, was a creative handyman, and loved working with his hands. In addition to his wife, Don is survived by one brother-in-law, John Norkus and his wife, Judy, of Schaumburg; one sister-in-law, Irene Norkus of Bolingbrook; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Anne Norkus; one sister, Karen Sharow; and one brother-in-law, Francis Norkus. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden, with the Rev. Jeffrey Rasche conducting. Burial with military rites by Payson VFW Post No. 2061 will be in Hebron Cemetery near Golden. VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. MEMORIALS: Masses or memorials to St. Thomas Catholic Church, St. Brigid Catholic Church or donor's choice.
