Eric Lee Whipps

He was a 1982 graduate of Unity High School. Eric was a football player and was active in the FFA.

He worked as a distributor with Motion Industries in Quincy, Illinois. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Eric loved time spent with his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He enjoyed visits to the Lake of the Ozarks, lunches at Kelly’s and meeting friends at The Dock.

Eric is described by those closest to him as someone who gave the best hugs, was always willing to lend a helping hand, and had a big smile on his face everywhere he went. He never missed a chance to take his mom out for dinner and would do anything for her and everyone else he loved. His kind heart, thoughtfulness, laugh and spirit for life will be deeply missed.

Eric is survived by his mother, Ruth Whipps and his older brother, Wayne; 3 nieces, Valerie (Brent) Bovy, Kristen (Dan) Schrock, and Kelly (Nick) Jans; great nieces and nephews, Logan, Emarie, and Lincoln Bovy; Landon, Remi, Lily, and Tate Schrock; Talon and Brooks Jans.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, and father, Leonard Whipps.

Funeral Services for Eric will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois. Pastor Larry Smith to officiate.  Interment will be at New Providence Cemetery, near Ursa, Illinois.  The Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Unity High School FFA or The Friends of Unit 4.
