Florence S. Jones

Florence “Flossie” S. Jones, 81, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, formerly of Loraine, Illinois, passed away at 11:18 a.m. on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born at home in Sutter, Illinois, on July 29, 1942, a daughter of Otis “Laverne” and Susana K. (Hardy) Stoneking. She married Merlyn W. Jones on October 15, 1960, in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2007.

Florence was a 1960 graduate of Unity High School. She was a member of the Loraine Community Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, playing board games with her grandchildren, and cooking, especially lemon meringue pies. She was a woman of great faith and took comfort in reading the Bible. She spent her life in service to the Lord. She was lovingly known by many as Aunt Bossy.

She is survived by her sons, Bryan Jones of Jasper, Texas, David Jones and his fiancé Jamie Robinson of Festus, Missouri, Eric Jones and his wife Jeni of Quincy, Illinois, Bradley Jones and his fiancé Heather Toll of Cape Girardeau, Missouri: thirteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Presley Stoneking, Leonard Stoneking, Robert Stoneking and his wife Sherry; a sister Carol Harms; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Charlotte Miller, granddaughter, Andrea Jones, and great granddaughter, Breanna Jones.

A Funeral Service for Florence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 27, 2024, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois. Her nephew, Scott Harms, will officiate. Interment will be at the New Loraine Cemetery in Loraine, Illinois immediately following the Service. Merlyn will be laid to rest with Florence.

Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Loraine Community Church.
