Gerald D. Miller, 97, of Quincy Illinois passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the family farm surrounded by his family.
Gerald was born on January 22, 1926, in Lima to the late Clyde and Pearlie Rose (Vinson) Miller. He married Wilma Irvin on June 15, 1946, at the Vermont Street United Methodist Church in Quincy which they united each other in marriage for 70 years until she proceeded him in death on January 18, 2017.Gerald served proudly in the navy during World War II on the USS Corregidor. He served from January 1944 to May 1946. Gerald was a plant manager at Walbash Transformers in Farmington Missouri and was also employed by Motorola in Quincy for 26 years. Gerald enjoyed being outdoors whether that was out in the garden or casting a fishing line on the pond. In retirement years Gerald and Wilma loved to travel to California. Most of all Gerald cherished the times he was with his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is; one daughter, Becky (Wilkie Cheong) Miller of Las Angeles, CA, one son, Kevin (Lisa)Miller of Loraine, three grandchildren, Sydney Cheong of N.Y.C., Deanna (Nate) Taylor of Golden, Andrea (Ryan) Smith of Shawnee Kansas, five great-grandchildren, Hunter Phillips, Makenna Taylor, Kaleb Schaffer, Eli Schaffer, and Jayce Smith. He was proceeded in death by his wife, two children, three brothers, and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. February 17, 2023, at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon. Private Funeral Services will be held with immediate family attending only. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Blessing Hospice.
