Helen Marie Wood, 96, of Lima passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in her home.
Helen was born on October 28, 1921 in Rural Adams County to the late James Warner and Irene (Nichols) Wood. She attended three years of High School in Lima and graduated from Quincy High School.
Helen was a lifelong resident of the Lima area. She worked at Twins’ Market in Lima, then worked at the Lima Post Office for over 40 years, retiring as Post Master in 1989. She belonged to the Methodist Church in Lima and was a charter member of The Federated Church of Lima, where she helped with apple butter days, making donuts for the Lord’s Acre Sale and taught the Ladies Sunday School Class for many years.
Helen is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Wood of rural Lima, Nephew Leon Wood of Rural Lima, Niece Pam Wood of Chicago, niece Amy (Don) Gee of Hamilton and two great nieces, Kristina Gee and Selena Wood of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harold Wood, and a great-nephew, Quantell Wood.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with Chaplain Richard Martin officiating. Private interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 1 0:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday, June 30, 2018 i n the Hunter Funeral Home. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Unity Point Hospice or the Lima-Tioga Fire Protection District.
