Joan L. Flesner, 76, of Mt. Sterling, formerly of Golden, passed away at 8:15 a.m., on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the Mt. Sterling Health and Rehab Center.
She was born on December 30, 1946, at home in La Prairie, Illinois, a daughter of Lawrence “Gene” and Mildred (Ippensen) Hughes. She married Ray E. Flesner on May 29, 1965, in Golden, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2020.
Joan was a 1965 graduate of Central High School. She had retired from Prairieland FS and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Golden. Joan enjoyed golfing, gambling, and drinking coffee. She cherished attending many grandkids sporting events.
She is survived by her three children, Denny (Paula) Flesner of Mt. Sterling, Brenda Miller of Golden, and Chad Flesner of Mt. Sterling, seven grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) McGuire of Chicago, Elizabeth (Alex) Ruggles of Meredosia, Caden Miller of Quincy, Kennedy Flesner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Trey (Danielle Reed) Flesner of Camp Point, Drew Flesner of Forsythe and Bryce Flesner of Camp Point, three great grandchildren, Lachlan Flesner, Thea Flesner, and Kingston McGuire. Three brothers, three sisters and several nieces and nephew also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, 16, 2023, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Golden, Illinois with Rev. Jeffrey Corson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Golden Community Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the Central High School Athletic Program.
