Juanita Curless entered into her eternal life surrounded by her family, friends and devoted caregivers on January 20, 2024. Her parents and brother who predeceased her were John Cyrus Curless and Florence E. (Toole) Curless of Quincy, Illinois, and brother William T. Curless of Arizona. She is survived by three nephews: Douglas W. Curless (Cathy Goodwin) of Arizona, Jay A. Curless of Arizona, and Craig E. Curless (Kathleen Curless) of Maryland. She is also survived by Great nephews and nieces Eric Curless of Arizona, Renae Curless of Pennsylvania, Brian Curless of Arizona, and Dr. Kim Goodwin (Aaron Brennan) of California. And four Great Great nephews and nieces Andrew Joseph and Reilly Mac Girvin-Curless of Arizona and Olivia and Chase Brennan of California. Juanita was born February 15, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois. She lived in Quincy, Illinois for most of her childhood. She graduated from Quincy Senior High School. Much of her time was devoted to civic and religious organizations. Her main interests revolved around spending time helping and communicating with the infirmed, elderly, disabled and homeless. She spent her professional years as Administrator of Christian Shelticenter Nursing Center. She was highly loved and respected by her employees and residents. overseeing the care of the ill and elderly residents. She moved to Florida in 1976 and worked with medical diagnostic companies serving major League Baseball, nursing homes, hospitals and manufacturing. After her retirement, she enjoyed her interests in music, pets, baseball, traveling and sightseeing. She was a faithful Protestant.
A closed family viewing was held at Beach Memorial Chapel, St. Pete Beach on January 26, 2024. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. September 6, 2024. with the Pastor Larry Smith, of the First Congregational Church, officiating at Curless Cemetery near Loraine, Illinois in Adams County, Illinois. Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, IL oversees those arrangements. She will be laid to rest in the Curless Cemetery. Loraine, IL.
