Loren O. Baker, 93, of Quincy passed away at 11:30 AM Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
He was born on June 7, 1927 in the home at Tioga, a son of Perry and Esther (Kropp) Baker. He married Virginia (Rairden) Koltzenburg on November 20, 1965 in the Viola Methodist Church and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Sherry (Dave) Doubledee, of Fairfax, Iowa, Bonnie (David) Bernhard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jeffrey (Jill) Baker of New London, Iowa, Steve (Victoria) Koltzenburg of Tennessee, Illinois and Linda (Jim) Bliven of Quincy, 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandson Jamie Mixer, a brother Willis Baker and a sister Dorothy Lund.
Loren served as a Merchant Marine during WWII. He farmed and was a truck driver for American Freight for over thirty years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga and attended All Faiths Church in Quincy. Loren enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was also a beloved dog lover.
Private family services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, with Pastor John Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Tioga. An informal visitation without the family present will be held on from 2:00PM until 5:00PM Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Hunter Funeral Home.
