Lucille V. Neil

Lucille V. Neil, 102, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Mendon, IL, departed this world at 5:43 a.m. on Friday, October 25th, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy.

She was born on October 29th, 1921, in her grandparents’ home on North 12th Street in Quincy, a daughter of Verner “Vernie” and Anna (Littich) Agard. She married Vernon Wayne Neil on March 16th, 1941, in Fort Madison, Iowa with Rev. L.C. Mauck officiating. Wayne passed on December 23rd, 1992, in Blessing Hospital.

Lucille graduated from Mendon Township High School in 1939. She then attended Gem City College graduating from the stenographic department.

For 18 years she was employed as a secretary-bookkeeper in Ursa and Quincy including Terry Brothers in Ursa, Electric Wheel (Titan), and the Great River Library System in Quincy.

In 1972, she became a licensed realtor joining the office of Brown and Mating before opening her office, Sunrise Realty, at 910 Broadway, Quincy, IL in 1981. She later moved her office to her home in Ursa in 1993 due to family illness. She received many honors during her Real Estate career including “lifetime membership” in 2002 for 30 years of active service. Lucille retired in 2006 to enjoy her family and travel. She also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, boating on the Mississippi River, water skiing, fishing, and camping. 

Survivors include her two Grandchildren, Bryan (Natalie) Neil of Mendon, IL and Michelle (Orlando) Zurita of Winter Garden, FL; five Great Grandchildren, Erika (Justin) Buck, Ashlyn (Drew) Short, Austin (Amber) Zurita, Nicholas and Darrin Zurita; and Great Great Grandchildren, Adalyn Zurita and Jack Buck.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wayne, infant daughter Sandra Kay Neil and son Ronald Duane Neil.

A Memorial Service for Lucille V. Neil will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Ursa Christian Church in Ursa, IL. Pastor Bill Mitchell will officiate. A private family inurnment will be held at the New Providence Cemetery near Ursa, IL.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening, November 4, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, IL and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. 

Memorials are suggested to the Ursa Christian Church.
