Mary Virginia Miller, 77, of Quincy passed away at 5:40 A.M. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in the Timber Point Health Care Center in Camp Point.
Mary was born on September 17, 1940 in Quincy to the late Howard and Elda Grace (Lasswell) Hemming.
Mary grew up in Meyer on the river and her mother taught her in school. In high school, she was in the band and played the accordion, which her son Howard still has.
Mary had worked for the Quincy Paper Box, Thornton Orchard and Steinman Grocery. She loved to do puzzles, word searches and playing games on the computer. She especially loved being outdoors and tending to her roses and lights, Christmas was her favorite holiday.
Mary enjoyed all the times, friends would come and just sit and visit, laugh and just enjoy the day.
Surviving are; two sons, Michael (Mary) Harris of Liberty, Howard Harris of Quincy; Howard’s family, Bill and Amy Phelps and their children, Collin, Emma and Libby Phelps; four grandchildren, one step grandchild, eight great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and a special neighbor, Patti Shoup of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by aunts, uncles and cousins.
As per Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are currently planned. You may still leave a memorial contribution in her name to the family in care of Howard Harris or to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
