MENDON, Ill. -- Michael Shane Henze, 30, of Mendon died on Saturday (May 24, 2014) near Meyer.
Michael was born on March 3, 1984, in Quincy to Jeffrey Henze and Donna Roberts Hiland.
He married Jessica M. Eilts on July 24, 2004, in Loraine. Jessica survives of Mendon.
Michael graduated from Quincy High School in 2003.
He was a member of Nakster Nation Outdoors and Woods, Wheels and Waters Outdoors. He was also a member of the North American Hunting Club, the N.R.A. and White Tails Unlimited. He enjoyed going deep sea fishing with his friends down South, going on hog hunts, hand fishing, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, especially teaching his son everything he knew about hunting and fishing. He loved kids, his dogs and just being with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Jessica M. Henze of Mendon; one son, Kyle Ray Henze of Mendon; his mother, Donna (Donnie) Hiland of Augusta; one sister, Kelsey Henze of Augusta; one stepsister, Larissa Hiland of Plymouth; three stepbrothers, Lance Hiland of Augusta, Gaven and Colten Jett of Lewistown, Mo.; father and mother-in-law, George and Denise Eilts of Fowler; one brother-in-law, Cody Eilts of Fowler; one sister-in-law, Stephanie Maas of Loraine; one aunt, Brenda Long of Mendon; three nephews, Hoyt Shepler and Bray Henze of Augusta and Hunter Maas of Loraine; and one niece, Crissa Eilts of Loraine.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Cassie Henze; paternal grandfather, Ronnie Henze; maternal great-grandparents, Art and Helen Roberts; paternal great-grandparents, Art and Marie Henze; and one uncle, Mike Long.
SERVICES: A celebration of Michael's life will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, in The Crossing Church in Lima, with Walt Wilcoxson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in New Loraine Cemetery in Loraine.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in The Crossing Church in Lima.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the family.
