Mike Long

Mike R. "Bucket Head" Long, 54, of Mendon, died Saturday (March 23, 2013) in St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.

Mike was born March 13, 1959, in Michigan City, Ind. He is a son of Robert D. and Rose M. Leduc Long. He married Brenda Roberts on Nov. 25, 1995, in Loraine. Brenda survives of Mendon.

Mike graduated from Quincy Senior High school. He worked for nine years at French-Gerleman in Quincy as a warehouse manager. Mike loved his dog, Scooter, and was always a happy person. He enjoyed camping, fishing and watching NASCAR, and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda of Mendon; his dog, Scooter; his parents, Robert and Rose Long of Mount Zion; a sister, Debbie (Kevin) Buckley of Mount Zion; seven nieces and nephews, Cody (Jessica) Buckley, Jason (Mindy) Buckley, Mike (Jessica) Henze, Kelsey Henze, Taylor Copher, Luke (Nichole) Roberts and Julie Roberts; and four great-nephews, Hoyt Shepler, Kyle Henze, Bray Henze and Grayson Buckley.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Marie Long.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon with the Rev. Oliver Taube conducting. He will be laid to rest in New Loraine Cemetery in Loraine. The family is requesting casual attire for both the visitation and the service.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
