Nancy Blickhan

Nancy J. Blickhan, 96, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at La Plata Nursing Home, La Plata, Missouri, on Thursday, July 20, 2023.  She was born on June 1, 1927, in Mendon, Illinois, a daughter of Robert S. and Alice (Thompson) Whitefield.  She married Orville D. Blickhan on November 9, 1946, in Quincy, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on September 8, 2003.

Nancy was a 1945 Mendon Township High School graduate.  She went on to become a nurse’s aide, before becoming a homemaker.  She enjoyed playing cards and dancing on Saturday nights at the Moose Lodge. Nancy looked forward to Christmas, decorating and spending time with family.

Survivors include three sons, David (Trudi) Blickhan of Kirksville, Missouri, Dennis (Mary) of Keokuk, Iowa, Dale (Cherie) of Linn Creek, Missouri, grandchildren, Jacob (Marilyn) Blickhan, Sarah (Daniel) Ferguson, Frank Blickhan, Scott (Katie) Blickhan, Melissa Lloydd, Anthony(Niki) Blickhan, Abbie Blickhan and her fiancé Alex McNay, and Brandon, Tressa Evans, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and six brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois.  Pastor Larry Smith to officiate. Interment at New Providence Cemetery in Ursa, Illinois.  Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to La Plata Nursing Home activities fund. Condolences may be left for the family at www.triplettfuneralhomes.com.
