Nancy Lu Greene, 73, of Rushville, passed away at 2:42 PM, Monday, December 26, 2016, in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
She was born on June 15, 1943, in Rushville, the daughter of Chester Ora and Jane Genevieve (Thomas) Rinehart. She married James Dale Greene on December 15, 1963, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville. He survives.
Also surviving are two sons Randy Dale Greene of Chatham and Gregory Allen Greene and wife Kelly of Rushville, nine grandchildren Jordon Davis Greene, Taylor Elizabeth Anne Greene, Madison Anna Marie Greene, Carson Harris Greene, Dylan James Greene, Parker Thomas Greene, Sophia Adeline Greene, Rowen Christopher Greene and Cooper James Greene, two sisters Tamara Jane Collins and husband Clarence of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Deborah Ann Vancil and husband Richard of Sun City, Arizona, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy graduated from Rushville High School in 1961, as part of the first graduating class in the new building. She attended Springfield School of Beauty Culture in Springfield, graduating in March of 1962. She then attended Western Illinois University from 1962 to 1964.
She began her beauty career with Clarice Bartlett in the basement of Moreland and Devitt Drug Store, before moving to the Hester House Antiques Building on Lafayette Street. She later joined the ladies at Liberty Street Hairstylist, retiring in 2015 due to ill health.
She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, where she served as a deacon, mentored in the Baptism classes, and was a member of the Morning Glory Group. She enjoyed attending the events of her sons and later her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with Dick and Ruth Diseron, with FS business trips and the Rushville State Bank Premier Club. She also enjoyed reading and putting together puzzles.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 30, 2016, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, with Reverend John Sowers officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 Pm to 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, Hope Blooms or Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.
