Raymond BRUNS

d. April 6, 2010

GOLDEN, Ill. --Raymond J. Bruns, 75, of Golden, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday (April 6, 2010) in his family residence in Golden. Raymond was born on July 21, 1934, in his home east of Golden. He was a son of the late John H. and Marie Wienke Bruns. He married Marilyn J. Haschemeyer on Nov. 9, 1958, in Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Golden. Marilyn survives of Golden. Raymond was a 1952 graduate of Golden High School in Golden, where he played basketball. He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. Raymond was an avid reader and sports fan. He followed current events and politics and loved reading about history. He was extremely knowledgeable in these areas and had an amazing recollection of dates and events from the past. Raymond was engaged in farming until his death and raised his children on the family farm. It was important to him because he wanted to teach his children a good work ethic. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where he held several offices and was very active in Bible study and taught Sunday school in his earlier years. He always made sure that his children were in church and Sunday school learning about their Lord and Savior. Even when they had moved out of the house, he would inquire about their church attendance, as it was very important to him that they and his grandchildren attend. Survivors include two daughters, Karen March and her husband, Steve, and Janice Voepel and her husband, Mark; two sons, Paul Bruns and his wife, Joanna, and Harold Bruns; eight grandchildren, David March, Shawn March, Dawn March, Alyssa Bruns, Andrea Foss and her husband, Ian, Austin Bruns and his wife, Mollie, Miriah Bruns and Tyler Bruns; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Bruns and Adalyn Foss; one sister, Dorothy Heinecke and her husband, Arnold; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Norma Mueller and her husband, the Rev.
