Rose Marie (Ideus) Cassens, 88, of Quincy, formerly of Golden, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy.
Rose was born on January 18, 1930 in rural Clayton to the late Bohle and Sadie (Gerdes) Ideus. She married William J. “Bill” Cassens on February 27, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden by the Reverend K.W. Braun. Bill survives in Quincy.
Rose attended schools in Brown County. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, W.E.L.C.A and their ladies quilting guild. She was also a member of the Golden Historical Society and the Adams County Home Extension. She loved flower gardening, baking and was known for her cinnamon rolls. Rose also enjoyed knitting and painting. She took extremely good care of her home and property, and co-owned a catering business, The Taste of Class. Rose was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and friend to everyone she knew.
Surviving are four sons; Bruce (Sharon) Cassens of Chatham, Mark (Sandy) Cassens of Quincy, Dennis (Mary Jo) Cassens of Byron, John (Diane) Cassens of Byron; twelve grandchildren, Rob (Betsy) Cassens, Ryan (Jennifer) Cassens, Whitney (Jason) Mehaffy, Brent Cassens, Suzanne Cassens, Greg (Hannah) Cassens, Chad (Gretchen) Nelson, Holly Jo Nelson, Tyler (Ainsley) Cassens, Courtney Cassens, Alexandria Cassens, and Nicholas Cassens; fourteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Sharon) Ideus of Carthage; one sister-in-law, Ruth Ideus of Golden and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers; Vernon and Irwin Ideus and two sisters, Geneva Leenerts-Gronewold and Velma Chapman.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Golden with Reverend Brad Eidson officiating. Interment will follow in the Golden Memorial Gardens in Golden. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in the Hunter Funeral Home in Golden. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Golden Good Shepherd Home or the Golden Historical Society.
