Ruby G. Shupe 95, of Mendon, Illinois, passed away at 12:47 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She was born on December 31, 1927, a daughter of Everett and Buna (Kelly) Stevens. Ruby married Charles Shupe on January 1, 1946, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Mendon, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2000.
Ruby was a graduate of Mendon Township High School where she was a cheerleader. Ruby and Charles were high school sweethearts.
Ruby helped Charlie on the farm. She worked for the Hunter Funeral home for twenty-five years. She was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She helped make many of the Chrismons for their Christmas tree and many wall hangings. She was well known for her great pies, especially her apple bars. She loved to sew, read, and do paper crafting. She belonged to the Eastern Star and was a member of the Geronteers at North Adams Home.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Jerri (Dick) Klusmeyer of Quincy, Illinois, her son, Ashley (Norma) Shupe of Dupont, Washington, grandchildren, Richard (Sara) Klusmeyer, Seth (Holly) Klusmeyer, Alicia (Dave) Weiman, and Katie (Eric) Assouad, great grandchildren, Will (Brooke) Klusmeyer, Taylor Klusmeyer, Dax Klusmeyer, Ava Weiman, Kale Weiman, Emelia Weiman, Lincoln Assouad, Bennett Assouad, Ronan Assouad, great great grandchild, Claire Klusmeyer, brother, Frank (Bobbi) Stevens, daughters-in-law, Annette Wescott and Lori Shupe. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, sons Chuck and Greg Shupe, son-in-law, Dick Klusmeyer, her brother, Fred Stevens, and a great grandson, Ethan Weiman.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Mendon, Illinois. Pastor Jeff Courson to officiate. Interment will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until 3:00 at the Salem Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the Salem Lutheran Church. Triplett funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
