Sammy Allen Evans, 72, of Frederick, formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 2:20 PM, Saturday, September 2, 2017, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He was born on May 1, 1945, in Bloomington, the son of Emmitt and Lydia (Smith) Evans.
Surviving are two sons Randy Evans and wife Kathy of Normal and Terry Evans and wife Rebecca of Boaz, Alabama, one grandson Zachary Evans, one brother Bobby Evans and wife Dorene of Normal, one sister Judy Probus and husband John of Holder, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters Beatrice Bell, Virginia Wirrick, Margaret Meyers, and Vivian Evans, and two brothers Jimmie Evans and Ronald Evans.
Sammy worked as a stonecutter for Walsh Monuments in Bloomington. He later worked as a material handler at Eureka Williams for 25 years retiring in 1996. In 1997, he moved to his farm in Frederick. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors. Watching the deer and wildlife were a great part of his retirement years
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Messerer Cemetery near Frederick. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Friends of Ever Bloom or McLean County Sportsman’s’ Association.
