Susan Baird

Susan G. Baird, 67, of Mendon, passed away at 12:42 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at her home. She was born in Clinton, Illinois, on September 26, 1957, a daughter of Williams Jenkins, Jr and Pearl L. (Runyun) Boyles. She married George Baird in Concordia, Kansas and from that brief union their daughter, Amanda was born.

Susan graduated from Unity High School. She went on to study drafting and theology at Quincy University. She was a cook for Paloma Diner and Spouts. She took an early retirement in 2000 due to health reasons. Susan enjoyed drawing, social media, and writing. Susan wrote an unpublished book, "The Serpent's Tail". She loved studying local history, travel and other cultures.

Susan is survived by her only daughter, Amanda Baird of West Point, IL; sisters, Carolyn Bird, Renita Peters, Tracy Kendick all of Mendon, IL, Debra Jenkins of Quincy, IL and Tena (Allen) Cook of Lima, IL; aunt and uncle, Charles and Naomi Dabney, who raised Susan. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Chandlier Burgtorf.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice.
