William "Bill" Dieterle

William “Bill” Dieterle, 87, of Golden, IL, unexpectedly passed away at 5:01 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at his home. He was born in Kellerville, IL, on October 28, 1937, a son of John and Faye (Leapley) Dieterle. He married Marjorie Riggins on September 4, 1960, in Golden. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2021.

Bill attended Maplewood School. He worked for Electric Wheel for almost 27 years. Bill was an excellent mechanic, and for many years he worked alongside his brother Larry at the Dieterle Garage in Golden. He was always busy and often found working on lawn mowers. Although, he had always said “this will be my last year” he continued through 2024. For many years he helped his nephew bottle wine for his winery. Bill loved his two street rods. He enjoyed attending car shows and stock car races at Quincy Raceways. Bill and Marge took pleasure traveling throughout the states on their Honda Gold Wing. He was very active in fast pitch softball and led his team to a state victory as the pitcher. He never missed an event for his girls or grandchildren. Bill was a jokester who never met a stranger and always had a joke to share with them.

He is survived by his three daughters, Cindy (Donnie) Boyer of Quincy; daughter, Jessica Showman, and her children, Olivia, Emma, David and Max, daughter, Ashley (Jerrod) Snow, their child, Rhiannon, Bill’s second daughter, Sherry Dieterle of Golden, and his third child, Lisa (Aaron) Newell of Camp Point, their children, Kylee (Jackson) Green and Connor Newell; a brother, Richard “Dick” (Valla Lou) Dieterle; sister, Martha (Roger) Lantz; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dieterle. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marge; siblings, John (Jean) Dieterle, Jr., Donald “Sock” (Glendora) Dieterle, Margaret (Rodney) Pracht and Larry Dieterle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Golden, IL. Pastor Sheri Renner to officiate the service. Interment will immediately follow in the Golden Community Cemetery.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Triplett Funeral Home in Golden, IL.
