William Meyer, Sr.

William C. Meyer, Sr., 69, of Mendon, passed away at 5:40 pm, on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Blessing Hospital.

He was born on February 14, 1951, in Quincy, a son of William Everett and Virginia Ruth (Daniels) Meyer.

Bill is survived by his children, William “Billy” C. (Jennifer) Meyer, Jr. of Mendon, Christina (Wilbert) Clay of Palmyra, MO, Harry “Jay” Jenkins of Rushville, Dawn Jenkins of Loraine, Sindi (Shawn) Norfolk of Camp Point and Josh Meyer of LaGrange, MO; grandchildren, Alexandria Meyer, Jordan Meyer, Travis Clay, Joshua (Nathan) Clay-Culver, Malique Clay, Kaibella Clay, Shawn “Jonathan” Jenkins, Dannielle Jenkins, Shania Norfolk-Jenkins, Chase Norfolk, Shaun Meyer-Mowen, Hailey Meyer-Mowen, Ethan Meyer-Mowen, Breonna Meyer, Leland Allensworth, Bane Meyer and Cyrus Meyer; great grandchildren, Kleb Cable, Isabella Cable, Jayden Cable and Adelyn Rose Mowen; brother, Gerald “Jerry” (Arlene) Meyer of Camdenton, MO; sisters, Linda (Ralph) Gallaher of Loraine, and Cathy (Tom) Walsh of Loraine; brother-in-law, Rusty Flowers of Hannibal, MO; sisters-in-law, Hoey (Jim) Blackford of Honeywell, MO, Toni Logsdon of West Point, Sherry Willingham of Quincy, Debbie Wisdom of Hannibal, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Gary Meyer; a sister, Jackie Puff; and a brother-in-law Jerry Wisdom.

He married Sandra Durk on June 30, 1969, and later married Kym Jenkins on December 1, 1979 in Quincy. Kym preceded him in death on May 22, 2014.

Bill worked for Speedway Asphalt (Monte Christner) and Schuller’s as a field service maintenance man.  He later enjoyed making pizza at Casey’s in Mendon.  He loved woodworking, writing poetry, singing, fishing, hunting, cooking, and making other’s laugh.  He enjoyed playing the drums with Instant Replay and at the Faith Journey Church in Quincy. He loved taking his children and grandchildren snipe and bear hunting at the family farm.  He was always the life of party and he believed that kindness mattered above everything else.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at a later date.   Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  The family is being served by the Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon.
